How to Schedule Automatic Server Wipes in Rust
Automate your Rust server wipes including map and blueprint resets using GameSphere's scheduled tasks.
Rust servers require regular wipes to maintain server performance and keep gameplay fresh. Manually wiping your server every week or month can be tedious. Here is how to fully automate the process.
Understanding Wipe Types
- Map Wipe: Deletes all player bases, entities, and generates a new procedural map.
- Blueprint (BP) Wipe: Deletes players' learned crafting recipes. Often done monthly.
Using the GameSphere Task Scheduler
Our dashboard includes a powerful cron-based task scheduler that can automate your wipes.
- Go to your Rust server dashboard and click the Scheduled Tasks tab.
- Click Create New Task.
- Set the Action to "Wipe Map" or "Full Wipe (Map + BP)".
- Configure the Schedule. For a weekly wipe on Thursdays at 2 PM EST, use the cron expression:
0 14 * * 4. - Save the task.
Pre-Wipe Announcements
It's best practice to warn your players before a wipe occurs. Create another scheduled task set to run 30 minutes before the wipe. Set the Action to "RCON Command" and enter:
say "SERVER WIPE IN 30 MINUTES. BACK UP YOUR DESIGNS!"
